Mumbai Marathon 16th January 2010 18 Dreamers from Bangalore ran for their Dream of developing critical life for children from vulnerable backgrounds. Every step they ran brought one child closer to building a meaningful life and the opportunity to develop their full potential.
“It was a great experience” says Pavithra, senior coordinator for LearnIT who ran the Majja run of 6 Kms. Apart from the Marathon which was an exhilarating run I enjoyed my time with the team on the journey. Travelling together gives a lot of insight into how people actually are. I loved the sharing of confidences, struggles and personal beliefs.” Shalini Menon, Associate Manager, Dream Adventure Program, Running the Half-Marathon, 21 kms, for the very first time says. “I went there with an open mind. The run itself was very challenging and fun. I loved the spirit of Mumbai and the people there. It was very interesting see every person struggling to complete and how even if we were almost dying we kept encouraging others to run as well. There was such a feeling of “We are in this together” For Raju, Field coordinator , Dream Sports, There were many first times involved with this trip. “My first run, My first trip to Mumbai, My first trip out with the team. It was amazing and I also had the time of my life shopping and visiting the Elephanta Caves. I will definitely run more hereafter!”
Ritchika sums it up in three lines. “Super meaningful, super energy, super experience!” “I was amazed at the number of people running for Charity”, says Jeeno quietly, “It was a humbling experience to see old men running faster than you”. Here Jeeno breaks into a smile. “Every time you slowed down there were people calling out.. you can do it… you can do it. Then there is no choice , you have to do it. It was good to know that I could do it.” Revanna, our champion runner , ran the 21 Kms with about 95 Minutes, a new record for him. Revanna is a student of Vivekananda College and has run the Mumbai Marathon for Dream A Dream last year as well. For Revanna, the Mumbai public seemed much more involved and encouraging than at Bangalore. He also really enjoyed the visit to Elephanta Caves . The journey back home with the staff was most amazing. I learnt a lot about my own self just by talking .
