Director's Cut: Creating a Ripple and Being the Ripple!

Recently, on a 24-hour long journey between Mumbai to Bangalore after participating in the Mumbai Marathon, some of the Dream Team members started sharing their stories and asking questions around "Who am I and Why do I work at

 

Dream A Dream!".

 

Recently, on a 24-hour long journey between Mumbai to Bangalore after participating in the Mumbai Marathon, some of the Dream Team members started sharing their stories and asking questions around "Who am I and Why do I work at Dream A Dream!". All inspiring and tremendously moving responses. However, there was one response that stuck with me and I went deeper with it. Someone said, I work at Dream A Dream because I want to a create Ripples of Change in the way we as a society think and act. I want to be the Catalyst that throws the stone in the river and creates the ripple. I was quite struck with the depth and intensity of this young man who shared this perspective with me. And, he went on to add that he would also like to be one of the ripples that get's created when someone throws a stone in the river. I asked him what he meant by it. He said "Change is a collaborative effort" and sometimes we lead the change and sometimes we need to trust someone else to lead the change and just Trust & Support them in the process. By being a ripple, I can support the process, he concluded. I was definitely pleasantly surprised by the depth of this young man of 19, who just a few years back was a child in a Dream A Dream Life Skills Program. Today, he is catalysing this change by being a Life Skills Facilitator in our very high-impact "Life Skills Thru Sports" program. I sit back and reflect today, I can create the ripple effect and also be the ripple in the process. Wow! Does sound empowering.
