Happenings: Football for All

Dream A Dream & Slum Soccer (www.slumsoccer.org) - Two organizations committed to make a difference  by using football as a tool for empowerment of children come together  and join hands after meeting at Adidas Exchange Program - 2010 facilitated by Streetfootballworld Network (www.streetfootballworld.org) in Mumbai. That initial meeting sparked off a mutual interest and recently Slum Soccer visited Dream A Dream in Bangalore to learn and share together and explore synergies. Slum Soccer has  always worked with the aim of reaching out to the Indian homeless using football as a tool for social improvement and empowerment. Slum Soccer began based on the simple philosophy ‘Football for All’. Most organizations working with the sport as a change agent emphasize on development through sport as their focus. Slum Soccer has always aimed to find middle ground by ensuring that while seeking the benefits that sport offers to community development, development of the sport itself is not left behind. Over the past ten years, they have functioned true to their original objective of reaching out to and developing football in the grassroots. What started as simple weekend sessions has bloomed into full fledged football coaching camps, educational and healthcare workshops and societal development programs bringing a positive influence to the lives of nearly 70,000 men, women and children in over 63 districts all around the country. Slum Soccer and Dream a Dream now look forward to building a mutually beneficial partnership to enhance our impact on our respective stakeholders and create a ripple effect. What is important is that a ripple is set off and its just a question of when and how now!
